JOB OPPORTUNITY

HIV/AIDS Prevention and Education Program Coordinator 

 

  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, STI’s safer sex and risk reduction principles and practices in culturally sensitive way
  • Experience understanding working with the Ethiopian community
  • Experience working in HIV/AIDS field 
  • A strong commitment and sensitivity towards the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS
  • Strong facilitation and workshop organization skills.
  • Recent knowledge of HIV/AIDS and related issues in Canada
  • Knowledge of the specific barriers faced by Community members in accessing HIV related resources and services.
  • Proven skill in multi tasking, working independently and as a team with an ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Above average computer skills in all the Microsoft software applications including PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and other databases, webinars and social media.
  • Experience in Program planning, management and implementation 
  • Experience in working in partnership with all stakeholders to mobilize community members
  • Strong experience and skills in proposal and report writing
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Practical Experience to conduct outreach activities to reach out to the target community.
  • Ability to produce culturally sensitive HIV/AIDS awareness resources.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with funding agencies   
  • Ability to plan & implement volunteer programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic  (knowledge of  other Ethiopian languages is an asset)
  • Availability to work holidays and after hours
  • Self motivated and able to work independently while working as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to take direction and[Symbol]work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Research knowledge, skills, and experience

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of College Diploma in Social Services Program, and/or a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, Psychology and/or other related degree.
  • A minimum of two years working experience in the social/human services field, social research, or related fields, particularly addressing youth experience.
  • Above average computer skills in all the Microsoft software applications including PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and other databases, webinars and social media.
  • Ability to respond to and manage crisis situations through sound judgment is a definite asset.
